Now there is an awakening and much more interest; not only in EDI but in putting all sorts of applications in the Cloud.I have a friend who sells cake mixes and has customers who require EDI. Her first reaction to EDI was: “Another black box in my office with servicemen knocking on my door all the time.” She is one of many ideal candidates for EDI in the Cloud.

Where Will the Supply Chain Jobs Be?

now-hiringWhen Dickens wrote ‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times’, he wasn’t prognosticating about today’s world. Or was he? Is Big Data Better Data?

Big-Data1As a supply chain professional, you’re probably scratching your head about the whole Big Data thing, that is unless you’re an early adopter and have already reaped its benefits or suffered through start-up issues. Supply Chain Expertise is Expanding

ExpertiseA recent article in the Wall Street Journal  says that “Supply chain management as a proving ground for senior leadership roles, including CEO, is increasingly evident, with high profile examples that include Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook and Intel Corp. CEO Brian Krzanich. One reason for this phenomenon is that supply chain leaders typically have integrated experience across very different and key functions in purchasing, manufacturing, engineering, strategy and logistics and often oversee new product launches and customer service. This unique set of functional skills is increasingly important to corporate competitiveness.”
